PRESS RELEASE

A society and its upstanding social and religious mores are called into question following one man’s discovery of his wife’s infidelity and the terrible drama that follows.

In the small town of Nyanga, on Zimbabwe’s boarder with Mozambique, Titus is devastated to learn that his wife Samantha has been leading a double life, with a secret second husband. To compound his grief, Titus learns that two of the four children he has lovingly raised are not his. As Samantha retreats in shame to her parent’s home, Titus resolves to seek the truth and understand for himself just what went wrong in his marriage. He finds some comfort in the supportive words of a stranger, Nhau, whose own marriage failed due to his wife’s money-grubbing ways.

That afternoon, as the two men are engrossed in discussion, picking over the remains of their family affairs, they are offered sage advice by yet another benevolent stranger, Tongai, a police inspector. Over time, a bond will form between the three men and Tongai will urgently need them to return his favour, and help him with a bloody investigation.

When one of Tongai’s officers is shot dead and two others are brutally attacked, the Detective Chief Inspector is called to uncover the truth behind the assaults. Dangerous love triangles would at first appear to be at the heart of the matter. But as Tongai’s astute investigation develops, he realises that he is working within a society that’s rotten to the core, belegeured by robbery, rape, police corruption, sexual abuse, ritual killings, homelessness and the exploitation of the weak and vulnerable. To break through the cobweb of crimes, Tongai realizes he can only rely on his new allies, Nhau and Titus, to provide the most important clues needed to bring about justice.

Inspired by real life events Thou shall not be caught! is a powerfully moving and deeply insightful exploration of the multifarious nature of a society. Intelligent and commanding, the novel is a must-read, especially for those with an interest in African culture.
